As a part of R&D team for the Easyrider project, I had the privilege of guiding a team of exceptional engineers in the creation of a groundbreaking electrical city scooter. Our vision was to replace large, energy-consuming vehicles with a more efficient, ergonomic, and sustainable mode of transportation.
Easyrider is not just a scooter; it's a full-value vehicle that redefines the concept of urban mobility. It's capable of reaching speeds of 30 kilometres per hour, surpassing the average speed of public transport, and its compact design allows users to effortlessly navigate through traffic and easily solve parking issues.
One of the unique features of the Easyrider is its innovative folding mechanism. With a simple turn of the grip, the scooter folds automatically using an electric drive. When folded, both wheels are positioned at the bottom, ensuring cleanliness - a feature designed with the urban professional in mind. The grip itself transforms into a carriage handle, making the Sparrow as easy to carry as it is to ride.
The Easyrider also integrates technology seamlessly into its design. The grip, serves as a docking station for your smartphone and the form of the grip is ergonomically designed to prevent hand fatigue, even after a long-distance ride.
Our prototype, the Easy Rider, was built from scratch over a 12-month period, starting in late 2015. We utilized both 3D printing technology and traditional manufacturing methods, combining the best of both worlds to bring our vision to life. The result was a prototype for the product that not only met user needs but also pushed the boundaries of what a city scooter could be.
